Do you remember how healthy and full of energy you were when you were younger? But now, your energy level and stamina are gone, not matter what you do. Maybe there is something happening that you don’t know about, because it isn’t obvious, and no one has told you.
Well, it turns out, there are testosterone killers, like ninjas, hiding everywhere in plain sight. In this post, I am going to enlighten you and most likely surprise you about all those little hidden killers and what is killing our testosterone in our daily lives.
The truth is, Low testosterone will not only mess with your quality of life, it can even be deadly, if not properly treated!
Estrogen Copycats – Disguised as Normal Day-to-Day Products We Use.
The environment we live in, in this decade and probably this century, is filled with man-made chemicals that are chemically like the estrogen in your body. Unfortunately, your body can’t tell the difference between the estrogen it naturally produces, and the synthetic xenoestrogens that are used to make many of the things we use every day.
The human body is being bombarded with these harmful chemicals every day creating an overburdened liver, weakening the immune system and disrupting the delicate hormonal balance.
What the heck is a xenoestrogen, you ask? Here is the definition directly from Wiki that is much better than I can explain it. I think it is important for my readers to understand what it is and how it works:
“Xenoestrogens are a type of xenohormone that imitates estrogen. They can be either synthetic or natural chemical compounds. Synthetic xenoestrogens are widely used industrial compounds, such as PCBs, BPA, and phthalates, which have estrogenic effects on a living organism even though they differ chemically from the estrogenic substances produced internally by the endocrine system of any organism. Natural xenoestrogens include phytoestrogens which are plant-derived xenoestrogens. Because the primary route of exposure to these compounds is by consumption of Phyto estrogenic plants, they are sometimes called “dietary estrogens”. Mycoestrogens, estrogenic substances from fungi, are another type of xenoestrogen that are also considered mycotoxins.”
There are over 80,000 of these chemicals in use today, according to the EPA. The most obvious use you would recognize, is in the plastics we use.
The chemicals are found in shampoo, deodorant, water bottles, soup can linings, food wrappers, clothing, and cash register receipts, and thousands of other products you touch and use every day.
Just imagine how treacherous this problem is to our health. Study after study is showing what these chemicals are doing to our endocrine system. There is proof that even the hormones in animals are being affected. This issue doesn’t discriminate against anyone and includes men, women, and children of all races that are exposed to phthalates, which we now know, are chemicals found in plastics and personal care products.
You can take a simple but big step today to boost your testosterone levels, just by avoiding plastics as much as possible. And, try to use as much organic stuff as you can, in your personal care products.
Is this stuff Even Hidden in Your Water?
Your local and state water processing supplies are required to constantly test for estrogen-like compounds in the water they supply. Yes, this is the water you get from your own faucets every day.
If you can, it is best to install a reverse osmosis water filtration system to the input of your house. If you can’t do that, use bottled water tested for purity and make sure the bottle it is in, is safe as well.
When buying water in bottles, try to avoid the ones that have a 3 or a 6 indicating the plastic recycling code. This is important because a 3 means it is Vinyl and a 6 means it is Polystyrene.
If the recycling code is a 7, you should avoid it because that code means ‘other’, so you have no idea what it is made from.
Safe codes are 2, 4 and 5.
Plastics to avoid are 3, 6 and 7.

Non-Organic Meat and Poultry
If you don’t live under a rock or out in the middle of nowhere, you should know that most beef is injected with hormones to make them fatter at a faster rate, so they are ready for the grocery store sooner. It’s all about profit, not your health.
Any kind of poultry can have issues as well, when purchased from a large farm. Female hormones are illegal and are not to be given to chicken or turkey. Unfortunately, nothing prevents farmers from feeding their livestock conventionally grown corn and soy, which are loaded with antibiotics and estrogen-promoting pesticides.
Your healthiest and safest bet for eating any kind of meat is to find organic grass-fed beef, free range organic chicken and turkey. Each of those have normal levels of natural estrogen, which will not affect your estrogen or testosterone levels.
Too Many Pesticides
A study from the University of London’s Centre for Toxicology found 30 out of 37 routinely used pesticides, blocked or impersonated male hormones. 16 of those chemicals had previously had no studies done up to that point, so the results were devastating and surprising to researchers.
More testing is ongoing, but while we are waiting for more testing, it would be smart to avoid anything that isn’t certified organic, including all fruits, vegetables, fruit juices, and livestock.
Set Your Testicles Free to Avoid Having Them Swelter
The effect of heat on male fertility was first discussed by Hippocrates a couple thousand years ago. Have you seen those cool nude statues in many European countries (Italy), and wondered why those and many other ancient statues and paintings feature nude male athletes?
Testosterone is produced by the Leydig cells in your testicles. Tight fitting clothing can cause your boys to get to hot which leads to shutting down T-production.
I hate to be blunt, but “Don’t cook your balls”. Try to wear loose fitting pants and underwear. Maybe you can just skip wearing underwear. Take cool or warm showers or baths, not hot. It is also recommended that you sleep in the nude, so the family jewels are free and cool.
We Have Too Much Stress In Our Lives – Chronic Stress?
Have you ever realized how challenging it is to get and maintain an erection when you are stressed out from a long and difficult day at work?
Chronic or long-term stress causes your body to produce too much cortisol. High levels of cortisol have a very bad effect on testosterone.
Testicles are known to produce an enzyme (11ßHSD-1) that under normal circumstances shields the testosterone against the harmful effects of cortisol. However, when the stress hormones get too high, the enzyme fails to protect testosterone from the harmful effects of cortisol. With prolonged high levels of cortisol, the cholesterol present within the body begins to elevate the synthesis of cortisol; thereby resulting in poor synthesis of testosterone.
You should always do whatever you can to get stress under control. Take up yoga, meditation, see a therapist, or quit your job, or at least get one that isn’t so stressed.

Drugs Prescribed by Your Doctor
First, do not stop taking any of your medication without first checking with your doctor!
Always do as much research as you can, before going to an alternative, natural or holistic option, instead of prescription.
Find natural or holistic alternatives whenever you can, if you want to boost your testosterone levels. I am a big fan of natural herbs. You can find natural alternatives for most drugs for diabetes, depression, high blood pressure, sleep, statins, and much more. There are a lot of drugs that can cause both low testosterone and ED.
This includes recreational drugs like amphetamines, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, alcohol and tobacco. Even over the counter pharmaceuticals like common painkillers can kill testosterone production.

Why the Incans Must Have Worshipped the Sun
What do you visualize when you think of testosterone raging MAN. Maybe an outdoorsy-type who spends his time in the rugged outdoors. He goes Hunting and fishing for fun. Maybe a rugged cowboy riding a horse and rounding up cattle for a living. How about a lumberjack?
What makes these men the stereotypical man we envy? Probably, it is their time spent in the sun. Sunlight is vital to helping your body naturally produce Vitamin D3. Many studies have shown Vitamin D’s influence on androgen levels. You need sufficient amounts of Vitamin D to produce testosterone.
The more sun you get the more testosterone you make. Try to spend more time outdoors. I like to just go out and set in the sun every day, until my face just starts to turn red, and then go in. You should find a nude beach and get some sun on your testicles. And supplement with 2,000 – 5,000 IUs of Vitamin D daily.
Belly Fat, Obesity and Low Testosterone
As you get older and if you don’t take care of yourself by having a healthy diet and by exercising, low testosterone will cause you to gain belly fat. And we know from my article on the Link Between Low Testosterone and Belly Fat, abdominal fat decreases testosterone, and increases estrogen. This is where a vicious cycle happens, that gets worse as you get older.
One study showed that men who lost 35 pounds, experienced a 15% increase in free testosterone. Another bigger study showed that men who lost between 60 and 280 lbs., averaged a 58% increase in testosterone.
There is no question that losing excess weight will increase your libido, improve your erections and boost testosterone. There are many ways to safely lose weight and to keep it off. Is Soy a Health Food? – Not so Much for Men
Soy has been known for a very long time as a health food. But, for men it turns out to not be so healthy after all. Could soy be “the Most Dangerous Food for Men”? This article in Men’s Health has a ton of valuable information on this question. It includes the story of a man who was lactose intolerant, so he switched to Soy Milk and things went downhill from there. Check it out: Men’s Health.
If you like to have a protein bar or shake after a workout, make sure you check the label. Soy shows up in almost everything now days. It’s in the vegetable oil you put on your salad, in snacks and drinks, the popular meal-replacement drink for older adults, in baby formula, and soy lecithin in processed foods.
This so-called healthy protein can also give you man boobs and wilt your erection, as happened to the poor man in the article in Men’s Health.
High Endurance or Lengthy Cardio Workouts – Not Good for Low T.
If you already have low testosterone levels, be careful about your workout choices in your training program. Research has proven what our lifeless erections have been trying to tell us; Repeated heavy endurance exercise without adequate rest can result in a significant decrease in testosterone.
High intensity, short workouts can boost testosterone. Give yourself time for rest and recovery. Listen to your body and adjust your training accordingly.
Spearmint and Peppermint – Smells Good, Tastes Good but Stay Away for T Health
Mint tea might help you warm up in winter or sooth a sore throat when you’re sick, but it might not be
worth the pain.
Mint and testosterone have a bit of a checkered past, with studies indicating that consuming mint reduces men’s testosterone levels.
First, let’s make it clear, what we are talking about. Peppermint, spearmint, apple mint, ginger mint, chocolate mint — all are part of the Mentha family.
It’s also worth noting that mint and its Mentha family buddies aren’t just found in herbal tea. Toothpaste, gum, deodorants, air purifiers, cooking, cocktails — mint is found in lots of places.
So, if you’re looking to reduce your mint intake, remember to look closely at the products that you interact with every day.
Researchers in one study, took 48 rats and divided them into four groups, one control getting water and the other three receiving progressively higher doses of mint; either spearmint or peppermint. What they found was that the control groups produced significantly more FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (Luteinizing hormone) while levels of testosterone plunged. In the lowest-dose group of peppermint, levels fell 23%. Spearmint dropped testosterone levels by 51%, and that wasn’t even at the highest dose.
The researchers concluded that, despite the benefits of mint tea, we should be aware of the “toxic effects” that it can have on testosterone.
One study shows the equivalent of a cup of peppermint tea reduced total testosterone by 51%.
I guess the bottom line is, stay clear of anything that smells like mint if you want to boost your testosterone😊
Sugar – Sweet and Tastes Great, but…
Sugar and sugary foods, and even some fruit, will severely deplete your testosterone production. You eat sugar because it tastes great and let’s be honest, its make you feel good. And, sugar of some sort appears to be in just about everything you put in your mouth. But sugar does horrible things to your physical and emotional health.
If you want to boost your libido, sex drive and have healthy erections then cut back on, or eliminate sugar from your diet.
