Estrogen is plentiful in women because they are more feminine than men, generally, because they need to keep their testosterone levels down. We don’t need to see women with unintentional muscle mass or a beard, or the other things normally associated with males.

Anyone reading my posts, know by now that low testosterone is a basic fact of life as men get older. There are many vegetables, called cruciferous vegetable that can lower estrogen. These vegetables have a high level of phytochemicals and work to block estrogen production. Cruciferous vegetables can be cooked in all kinds of different ways. Some of them I like raw, including broccoli, turnips, kale and cauliflower.

Certain types of seeds, like flax and sesame seeds, contain what are called polyphenols. Polyphenols are found in plants and reduce estrogen
levels in the bloodstream. According to information obtained from Oregon State University, flax seeds contain some of the highest levels of polyphenols. Many things determine the health effects of phytoestrogens. One of them is how efficiently a person absorbs and metabolizes phytoestrogens. Since flax seeds have a complex nutrition composition, they may help lower estrogen in some people. For some people, they may not help or could even mimic estrogen symptoms.
You can find flax and sesame seeds some grocery stores and most health food shops. You can add them to a lot of different cooking recipes and can be easily added to fruit smoothies. I like sesame chicken myself.
Whole Grains Can Help Lower Estrogen in Men
Whole unrefined grains aren’t broken down like grains that have been overly processed. They maintain all of their parts, which include endosperm, bran, and germ. As with seeds, whole grains contain anti-estrogen polyphenols and also phytoestrogen nutrients.

I love adding raw mushrooms to my salads. They are great, sautéed with onions and other foods. I love putting a little olive oil, salt and pepper on portobellos and then grilling them on my bbq. The smoke and grill marks make them so good! I am drooling right now.

Some Types of Grapes are Also good at Blocking Estrogen
RED Grapes are another estrogen-blocking food. Their skins contain a chemical called resveratrol, which is a plant compound that acts like
an antioxidant. The best food sources for resveratrol include red wine, red grapes, some berries and peanuts. The seeds of red grapes contain a chemical called proanthocyanidin. According to Wikipedia, Proanthocyanidins are a class of polyphenols found in a variety of plants. Chemically, they are oligomeric flavonoids. Many are oligomers of catechin and epicatechin and their gallic acid esters. More complex polyphenols, having the same polymeric building block, form the group of tannins. Both of these chemicals work to block estrogen production.
Red grapes are easy to clean and can be eaten whole. They are great to eat refrigerated or at room temperature. You can just eat them alone or can be added to fruit or salads. As with all other fruits and vegetables, try to get organic grapes.
Pomegranates are Now Widely Known for Their Estrogen-Blocking Properties
I don’t think a lot of people know about pomegranates. My wife loves them. I am guessing that when people consider fruit, pomegranate is
not on the list, or at least not on the top of the list. But it is our lucky day because this particular fruit is high in phytochemicals. Pomegranates are becoming more widely known for their estrogen-blocking properties as well as their antioxidant capability.
Pomegranate seeds are great eaten right out of the fruit after you cut it in half. They are juicy, tart and sweet. You can drink pomegranate juice, which can be purchased many places. Try to get the natural organic juices if you can since they will contain much less sugar.
They are also really good added to plain Greek yogurt.
There are Some Great Teas That You Can Drink to Help Block Estrogen
Already known for its many health benefits, green tea is also a great source of polyphenols, which may influence enzymes that metabolize
estrogens. In addition, Harvard Health Publications cites green tea may also lower heart disease risk.
There are many varieties of green tea available at grocery stores and health food stores. Green tea can be combined with other flavors such as mint, lemon, ginseng, and ginger for improved taste and nutrients. It is a great refreshing drink, both hot and cold.
One note on Green Tea for guys who have low testosterone. Studies have shown that a high intake of green tea has been associated with higher levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), and it is well known that the higher your SHBG, the lower your free testosterone levels will be. So, drink it sparingly.
You Can Reduce Estrogen Levels Naturally
